Mentoring within Large Relational Networks
Chinese newcomers rarely enter into the United States completely devoid of families and friends and support networks. However, these networks can be sparse, out-of-date, or may include unintended tradeoffs, and are insufficient for a newcomer’s vital needs. Evaporating safety nets of network supports often produce feelings of isolation and mental health anguish and lead to an overall, unsuccessful anchoring to one’s USA home, resulting in retrograde travel back to countries of origin. This entire process can be catastrophic and have fatal consequences, especially refugees and asylum seekers.
HOW WE HELP. Your friendship to a new arrival not only connects them to your personal networks of support with innumerable possible configurations, but also create bridges to adjacent worlds of support that surround many Chinese. We offer personalized life coaching, whether in-person or by video platforms, to makes it easier for immigrants to adjust to their new home in the United States while maintaining cultural identify and practices.
